Explore the peaks of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Slip down the iconic Sliding Rock as you enjoy the crisp waterfall selections scattered through the region or enjoy the famed Dirty Dancing Film Festival each summer, to commemorate the filming of the hit 1980’s film alongside the shores of Lake Lure.
History buffs visiting the North Carolina mountains and foothills can retrace several historic routes that mark significant chapters in the nation’s history. Take a stroll across the he 330-mile Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, which honors the marching route of citizen militia to the pivotal Battle of King’s Mountain during the Revolutionary War, or test out the Bartram Trail, a 100-mile memorial trail in remembrance of the Philadelphian naturalist, William Bartram, who traveled throughout the southeast from 1773 to 1777. The Appalachian trail also traverses 88 miles of its total 2175 miles in Western North Carolina.

Located just an hour and a half from Tryon, Charlotte, North Carolina, is the hub of many professional sports teams.
