With a close proximity to the major cities of Asheville, and Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as Greenville, and Spartanburg, South Carolina, the region is easily accessed by several major airports and home to endless exploration and entertainment opportunities. You can take a drive through the Blue Ridge Parkway, or go for a dip in the cool waters of Lake Lure. You may ride your horse along the miles of protected equestrian trails, enjoy becoming a member of various hunt clubs, tee up at several local golf courses, indulge at a vineyard, go for a mountain hike, and enjoy spectacular waterfalls, shop, dine or take in a professional sporting event.

Explore the peaks of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Slip down the iconic Sliding Rock as you enjoy the crisp waterfall selections scattered through the region. Hike to the top of the iconic Chimney Rock, or enjoy the famed Dirty Dancing Film Festival each summer, to commemorate the filming of the hit 1980’s film alongside the shores of Lake Lure.

History buffs visiting the North Carolina mountains and foothills can retrace several historic routes that mark significant chapters in the nation’s history. Take a stroll across the he 330-mile Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, which honors the marching route of citizen militia to the pivotal Battle of King’s Mountain during the Revolutionary War, or test out the Bartram Trail, a 100-mile memorial trail in remembrance of the Philadelphian naturalist, William Bartram, who traveled throughout the southeast from 1773 to 1777. The Appalachian trail also traverses 88 miles of its total 2175 miles in Western North Carolina.

Located just an hour and a half from Tryon, Charlotte, North Carolina, is the hub of many professional sports teams. Catch a Charlotte Knights baseball game, or stop in to catch the NBA buzz with the Charlotte Hornets. If you’re into football, the Carolina Panthers call Charlotte home as well. Feeling the need for speed? You may even want to take in a NASCAR race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway
